National Florida Beach TV Ads to Run

How cool is that?

The Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau have just finished taping 9 straight days of a different section of beach for people around the United States to see that our beaches have not been affected and that they should not cancel their Florida vacation… one of the days was filmed in front of ‘Tween Waters Inn on Captiva Island.

We have to get the word out there somehow because if people just watch the news, we are getting a really bad wrap!

Oil Spill To Be Contained Next Week?

Well, hopefully this is the last post ever about this topic…

Evidently, there are many reports that there are several “solutions” in the works to finally resolve the oil crisis happening in the gulf.

British Petroleum (BP) has lost all credibility this week by admitting that they “grossly underestimated” the extent of the spill and the damage that it is causing… Really?   Duh!

Here is the latest NASA Terra satellite photo taken, showing that a massive “arm” of oil is extending out into the open ocean away from the ground zero spot of the damaged oil rig.  Unbelievable!

Dogs On Sanibel Island Beaches Must Be Leashed

Just another friendly reminder to everyone that we must stay vigilent with regards to dogs being leashed while on Sanibel beaches.

Especially during turtle season!

Summer is also the time for nesting for several different species of birds and therefore, their nests and eggs are at great risk as well.

Beaches, Beaches and More Beaches on Sanibel and Captiva

As if our “world class shelling” reputation were not enough, our beaches are known for some of the softest, whitest sand around. Long stretches of gorgeous, wide, CLEAN beaches that will make your heart sing!

Everyone has their own favorite beach on Sanibel, so I hesitate to say that “this one is the best” or that “that one is the most private”, etc… It is purely a “to each his/her own” taste, that is for sure!

With that said, I do have to tell you a secret, and that is, that although, as a local, I truly enjoy the private residents’ beaches of homeowners here, far away from the tourists, I still like to meander down to gorgeous Bowman Beach (which is a public beach) every once in a while to get my “solitude fix”. It is a beautiful secluded beach with incredible sunsets that has such a romantic air to it, and it really allows you to “get away” from it all and tend to your own thoughts. I really enjoy it. Now, Robert has his own favorites, having lived here much longer than I have, he knows where all the nooks and crannies are! He’d be happy to show you around one on one, I’m sure, but I don’t think he’s ready to reveal his secret beach spots here in such a public forum just yet… 😉 Hmmm…

So, look forward to the beaches when you get here… they are spectacular!
